OUR SERVICES

Grow With Us: Cultivating Connection, Culture, and Community in South LA

We’re transforming a South LA backyard space into a vibrant hub garden of relaxation, culture, and connection. From cultivating ancestral plants and herbs to fostering a thriving gardening community, we’ll offer hands-on classes in gardening, herbalism, and wellness. We also nurture young minds by bringing interactive gardening programs to South LA schools, empowering kids to grow, explore, and connect with nature and their roots. Let’s grow together—body, mind, and the hood!

hood Oasis

Our founder wants to create a "hood oasis" in her South LA backyard—a space where neighbors can relax, connect, and learn. Many South LA residents must leave their community for such experiences, but this oasis would bring it home. The backyard will feature seasonal fruits, vegetables, and fresh herbs, along with spaces for community classes, a pool, hot tub, and steam room. Neighbors can visit to unwind alone, with family, or friends. It will offer a spa-like gardening experience, available for private rentals and community events, providing a much-needed sanctuary in the heart of South LA.

grow your roots

Many of us have explored ancestry services to discover our roots, heritage, and family history. We’re excited to see the different parts of the world that make up who we are. But what if we could take that connection even deeper? Imagine growing or purchasing plants, flowers, herbs, fruits, or vegetables from your ancestral region. A piece of your heritage could thrive in your home or garden, connecting you to where you come from every day.

We want to make this connection possible. Grow herbs, fruits, and plants from regions like West Africa, the Caribbean, or Latin America. Bring a piece of your heritage into your home and life.

Holistic Gardening Community

We’re cultivating a welcoming space where people of all gardening levels can connect with nature, build community, and explore holistic wellness. Through hands-on programs, participants learn to grow seasonal fruits and vegetables, care for plants, and incorporate herbs into daily life. From fire cider and beet kvass to fermentation and juicing, we combine gardening with traditional food preparation and natural health practices. Our holistic approach also includes education on yoni steaming, herbalism, and transforming homes into green spaces, creating a community rooted in growth, healing, and well-being.

growing young minds

We want to bring gardens to South LA schools to help kids connect with nature and learn through hands-on experiences. Kids will explore how plants grow, care for them, and understand their needs. They'll learn teamwork, responsibility, and even enjoy snacks they grow themselves. The program also teaches healthy habits, environmental care, and ties gardening to cultural and historical stories, like a cotton tree project.

It’s also vital to connect real-world experiences by comparing the body's functions to the care of a garden. Just like a garden, our bodies thrive when they receive proper care and nourishment. It’s all about making gardening fun, educational, and impactful for the kids and their communities.
